Take Back the Night is an international rally and march organized within local communities to shatter the silence and stop the violence in a local, grassroots environment. Supporters take a stand against violence by marching, rallying and chanting their way to bring a greater awareness for the cause. Take Back the Night events strengthen a community's ties as it brings together races, religions, philosophies, and backgrounds to glean a sense of hope from this moving experience.

Booths and activities will be sponsored by campus and community groups. Stephanie Tanny will be the featured speaker at the April 15 event. Other survivors will then have the opportunity to tell their stories. A certified DreamBuilder coach, fierce activist, and visual and spoken word artist, Tanny works with organizations and individuals across the country who feel stuck to discover and build their dreams so that they can change the world while living a life they love. Tranny has been recognized as a leader by The White House Project, and she was chosen in 2011 as one of 15 top Women Leaders by National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum, Angry Asian Man, and Hyphen Magazine.

The evening will conclude with a performance by Pullman Standard, a power rock quintet based out of North Hollywood, Calif. They have been touring since the release of their first full length album "Steam Powered Hearts" in 2012. The band is also heavily involved with philanthropic work donating their time as well as half of their sales for their songs "Change is what we are" and "Fifth and Broadway" to cancer research foundation "Love, Hope, Strength" not to mention performing at multiple Rock n Roll marathon fundraisers across the country. More touring is scheduled in support of their 2014 E.P. release "Edge of the Clouds."
